Hamlet in Maputo

It is a great honour for us to present our most recent campaign for the premiere of “Hamlet” by William Shakespeare, for the first time ever in Maputo, Mozambique. Adapted by the famous swedish writer Henning Mankell, staged by E. Andersen and produced by Manuela Soeiro. The mozambican theatre group Mutumbela Gogo will present the play tomorrow, 8th of November 2014 at the Teatro Avenida in Maputo.

Here’s an excerpt of what Makell says about adapting the play to a mozambican context: “Hamlet is a timeless piece about the human condition in the world. The play has certain similarities to the Tchaka kingdom in the 1800s, which is today’s South Africa.”
